India’s PSB adds 4 regional language channels

Doordarshan (DD) India, has strengthened its hold in the country’s broadcasting scene by adding four more 24-hour language channels to its suite of regional services.

DD launched language channels in Patna, Bhopal, Jaipur and Lucknow and with this its total for regional language channels will reach 15.

The public broadcaster currently has 11 such channels and the programmes to these centres are telecast for around four hours each evening.

Doordarshan’s Director General Tripurari Sharan confirmed the launch of the additional four channels saying that formal announcements will be forthcoming at the end of current trials, Media Mughals reports.

The channels will be mixture of news and general entertainment.
