Australia’s Foxtel to launch TV Everywhere next month

Australian subscription TV provider Foxtel says it plans to launch a new over-the-top TV service called ‘Play’ next month, bringing more than 40 linear channels to a variety of connected devices such as smart TVs, PCs and smartphones, with no lock-in contracts.

National newspaper The Australian quotes Foxtel’s executive director of television Brian Walsh as saying that the new service will liberate a lot of people who want to get TV from Foxtel but cannot afford a full-blown subscription TV package.

Head of product solutions design for Foxtel Brett Paton confirmed this move is designed to attract new and existing customers:  “Foxtel Go is a game-changing way for people to take their entertainment with them on the go. We are thrilled to offer our subscribers this fantastic way to enjoy our premium content,” he said.
