Deadline looming for ABU Engineering Prizes

Broadcast engineers in the Asia-Pacific have until 31 July to submit entries to the ABU’s engineering excellence awards for 2013.

The awards this year for the first time include an ABU Developing Broadcasters’ Excellence Award to recognise innovation and excellence by current or past employees of developing members in the Asia-Pacific.

Sponsored by Sony, the new annual ward comprises a citation, a commemorative trophy and a fully-paid fellowship to carry out a study tour of Sony’s main technology centre in Japan or any of its other prestigious institutions. Sony says the award is in line with the company’s spirit of staying at the forefront of technology and making significant contributions to the industry.

Other technical prizes being offered this year are: ABU Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award, ABU Engineering Industry Excellence Award, ABU Green Broadcast Engineering Award and ABU Technical Review Prizes.

ABU Secretary-General Dr Javad Mottaghi says: “With an expanding line-up of prizes, we want to make sure every organisation, however large or small, has time to make a suitable submission if they think their work for the year warrants international acknowledgment.”

The ABU engineering excellence awards are judged by international panels of judges and winners will be announced at the 2013 ABU Technical Committee meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam, with the prizes themselves presented at the ABU General Assembly.

More information on the ABU Engineering Awards is available at the ABU website.
