iHeartRadio now available in Australia

The Australian Radio Network (ARN) announced that the beta version of iHeartRadio, the world’s fastest growing digital music service, is now available in Australia.

ARN’s CEO Ciaran Davis said: “iHeartRadio combines the best of radio and digital, bringing together radio’s live and local relationships and the personal functionality of digital. We are leading the radio industry into its next era and are excited to be providing this unique digital service to the Australian public for the first time.”

Radioinfo reports that iHeartRadio already has more than 60 million monthly users in the USA alone, has reached 30 million registered users faster than Facebook, Twitter, Pandora or Spotify and the iHeartRadio apps have been downloaded 180 million times. Australia and New Zealand are the first expansion territories from the US for iHeartRadio.

Beta Functionality includes live streaming of radio stations from Australia, the ability to build Custom Radio stations based on user’s favourite songs or artists, 850 ‘Perfect For’, stations, music based on the user’s mood or activity, exclusive content featuring some of the biggest names in the global music industry and iHeartRadio Talk, a newly launched feature offering on-demand listener-created talk content side by side with popular talk, business, news, celebrity, comedy, sports and entertainment episodes from established personalities and shows.

Over the coming months, the product will continue to evolve with new functions and content being regularly released. This will culminate in September with the Australian and New Zealand launch of the mobile service.
