CCTV launches Giant Panda Channel

CCTV has today officially launched its on-line Giant Panda Channel, ipanda.com.

Internet users around the world are now able to watch live around the clock broadcasts of giant pandas living at a research base in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.

Twenty eight high definition video cameras have been installed at the Chendu Research Base of the giant panda breeding facility to record the daily activities of the more than 80 giant pandas living there.

The national TV Network China Central Television (CCTV) is providing the online broadcast. The broadcaster signed an agreement of cooperation with the Chengdu Research Base in April to launch the ‘Giant Panda Channel’ to promote panda preservation.

Visitors to ipanda.com, can choose from six feeds at any time of the day. The feeds include the ‘Garden for Adult Pandas’, ‘Kindergarten’, ‘Nursery for Twins’, ‘Mother and Child Playground’, ‘No.1 Villa’ and ‘Featured’.
