CNN TV Journalism Awards call for entries in Indonesia

International news channel CNN has announced its 2013 Television Journalist Awards are now open for journalists across Indonesia.

This is the second year of the awards, a collaboration between CNN and direct-to-home network Indovision. They seek to encourage excellence in Indonesian television journalism and reinforce the role journalists have played in Indonesia’s development.

CNN Vice President and Managing Editor for CNN International Asia Pacific, Ellana Lee, says: “After a successful inaugural year in 2012, [the awards] have grown in prestige and we look forward to receiving new entries from across the country.”

Vice President Director of Indovision parent PT.MNC Sky Vision, Handhi S.Kentjono, says: “We are committed to advancing journalism in Indonesia and are confident journalists will take on this challenge.”

The four major categories this year are Best Single News Story, Features Award, Environment Award and the Indovision Education, Culture and Arts Award.

An independent judging panel will choose the overall winner, who will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to spend three weeks training alongside journalists from around the world at CNN’s global headquarters in Atlanta, USA, as part of the CNN Journalism Fellowship Program.

Last year’s winner Diana Dwika from Trans 7 says the Fellowship was invaluable. “Winning the CNN Television Journalist Award was the best platform for my career,” she says. “Winning the Award is a dream come true for any Indonesian journalist.”

Entries close on 16 October 2013, with the winner announced in November. More information is available at www.cnnindonesianawards.com.
