Panellists named for international education media conference at NHK

Organisers of the Japan Prize have announced four key panellists who will feature at this year’s International Producers of Educational Media Conference in Japan in October.

The IPCEM will be held during the Japan Prize period from 17-24 October for producers and researchers of educational contents to gather from around the world to explore frontline and cutting-edge issues of educational media.

Participation in IPCEM is free but there is a registration deadline of 10 October 2013 via the Japan Prize events webpage.

The organisers, NHK-Japan, say they are proud to announce four of the panellists from the United States, Europe and Africa. They are: Lee Hirsch (United States), the director of ‘Bully’, a documentary film that provoked strong reactions by picturing children in the United States who are bullied; Ignacio Ferreras (Spain), the director of ‘Wrinkles’, an animated film depicting aging and dementia, that won the Grand Prix Japan Prize in 2012 and was released in Japan this year; Wesley Selabe (Botswana), an Executive Producer with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Botswana Educational Television, who will talk about the possibilities and educational efficiency of  TV programs and how classes at schools in Botswana are using media for education; and Andrew Ng (United States), the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Coursera, an education company that partners universities to provide free online courses.
