VTV expands its HD broadcast capabilities

Marking the next phase towards expanding HD broadcast to three of its channels by 2015 and to all channels by 2020, Vietnam Television (VTV) has acquired a series of HD camcorders from Sony.

The roll-out of the PMW-500, PMW-350, and PMW-200 camcorders is a significant milestone in VTV’s long-term aim of revamping its OB Van, studios, post-production facilities, archiving system and management software, as part of its HD evolution.

The camcorders expand the creative possibilities for VTV in every type of HD video production, including news gathering and documentary production.

Nguyen Van Chung, Director of VTV’s Technical Production Centre said “Our investment in high definition image acquisition equipment and a file-based workflow is vital in our plan to convert all our channels to HD by 2020. Sony was a natural choice due to their strong after-sales service and focus on our long-term roadmap for equipment upgrades.”
