Concert Special to celebrate Japanese-Vietnamese relations

Japanese public broadcaster NHK World Radio Japan will broadcast a special concert from Ho Chi Minh City to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

“Listeners’ Event in Ho Chi Minh City” on Saturday October 26 will invite local residents to enjoy Japanese songs featuring singer-songwriter Mariko Hata and rising young Vietnamese actress Nguyen Lan Phuong singing in Japanese.

The second half of the event will be a song contest for the public to sing locally well-known “Japanese songs” in Japanese.

The event will be recorded and broadcast on NHK’s Vietnamese program “With Our Listeners” and will also be aired in 16 other World Radio Japan language programs.

NHK says that to broaden their audience base, they host a variety of local events that link with their programs, many of them covered in Vietnamese.

World Radio Japan is NHK’s international radio service broadcasting in 18 languages, including Japanese. The Vietnamese language program is aired for 1 hour and 20 minutes each day and streamed live through the Internet.
