India’s Doordarshan to telecast 104 award winning films
In a bid to bring quality cinema to its viewers, India’s national broadcaster Doordarshan will start telecasting award winning films in its premier evening slots.
Speaking at a press conference, Doordarshan’s Director General Tripurari Sharan said the effort was to widen the choice of award winning films that broadcaster offers. He added that the 104 selected films were all winners of the Best Feature Film of the Year, National Award winners for Best Direction or the Best Feature Film in any Indian language.
The films also include those which have been screened at international film festivals around the world, those that have won the Indira Gandhi Award for the Best Film of a Director, or films which have been selected for the International Film Festival of India.
