Registration open for DRM’s digital radio webinar

Broadcasters in India and around the world are being urged to register for a free Digital Radio Mondiale webinar taking place this month.

The webinar, supported by ABU, will be a chance to examine and discuss the digital radio transmission technology online. Although aimed at the Indian market, it is also open to participants worldwide.

The session “DRM – Extra Features and Benefits – A Better Choice for Listeners” will be presented by the DRM Consortium on 18 November 2013 from 15.30-16.30 India time (10.00-11.00 GMT/ UTC).

Ruxandra Obreja, Chair of the DRM Consortium, says experts from India and senior members of the DRM Consortium from around the world will present special features and give answers to some of frequently asked questions such as why is DRM a superior solution to analogue, where it is taking hold in India and why get involved in receiver manufacturing now.

“All India Radio recently published a call for a tender for DRM 800 receivers demonstrating the will to take their digital rollout plan to the next level,” Ms Obreja says. “This is an excellent sign for all manufacturers as chipsets with multi-standards including DRM are already available, making the integration of the DRM standard into receivers an easier and more cost-effective process.”

After some short presentations, which she says participants can watch for free from the comfort of their own computer, DRM will hold a question-and-answer session.

More information and registration for the webinar are available at www.drm.org. All confirmed registrants will receive an email before the webinar with joining details.
