Highest TV ratings in India for final ODI game

The conclusion of the recent one day international (ODI) cricket series between India and Australia has become the highest rated single-day television event in India of 2013, according to Star Sports.

The recent match achieved 55,561 TVTs across India, while also registering the highest time spent per viewer (101 minutes on both the English and Hindi feeds) from all the ODIs played in 2013, the broadcaster said.

The India versus Australia ODI series – which ran from 10 October to 2 November – was watched by just under 43% of India’s cable and satellite homes, rapidtvnews.com reports.

“We are delighted with the viewer traction for the series. There is an upswing of almost 18% in average time spent per viewer per match for the India-Australia ODI series as compared to all India ODIs played in the year 2013,” said Nitin Kukreja, head of sports business, Star India.

“We are pleased to note the stickiness that Hindi commentary has been able to generate in the Hindi speaking markets. This is a clear cut vindication of our strategy of promoting choice of language for the consumer.”
