KBS holds live fundraiser for Philippines typhoon victims

Korean public broadcaster KBS has aired a special live fundraising program to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The program featured high-profile guests and gave KBS viewers the opportunity to donate directly toward relief and recovery efforts in the Philippines.

On the special program were Ms Kim Haing on behalf of President Park Geun-hye, leaders of the ruling and opposition parties, the Consul General of the Philippine Embassy Mr Iric C Arribas and Ms Jasmine Lee, who was born in the Philippines and is the first naturalised Korean National Assembly Member. They joined KBS announcers and other guests in the drive to help the Philippines’ people in need.

Before the show, Ms Lee and Mr Arribas held a meeting with KBS President & CEO and ABU President Gil Hwan-young, at which Mr Gil pledged that KBS would continue to offer its assistance.
