Best wishes to ABU members, partners and friends

As the year is nearing its end and another year is coming with lots of hopes and expectations, ABU Secretary-General Dr Javad Mottaghi thanks ABU members, partners and friends for making 2013 such a success for the Union.

On behalf of the ABU, its Administrative Council and staff, I wish you, your families and friends, health, peace and prosperity in 2014.

2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the ABU. This is a milestone anniversary celebrating 50 years of service to the public. The Union is stronger than ever and united in its diversity working together to meet the challenges of the new technological advances of the millennium. Forging new alliances and partnerships helps us reach more than 3 billion potential audiences and serve them with high quality programmes.

May I say how proud and privileged we are to work for ABU members as well as our friends and partners around the globe. The ABU Secretariat thrives in the Headquarters as a single and effective team regardless of race, colour or creed. Our plans for 2014 – as well as for many years to come – are already well advanced. We are servicing our growing membership with a wider range of activities than ever before and their increasingly varied demands will require continued innovation from all of us.
