2014 a year for building alliances, ABU President urges

ABU members must build stronger alliances with each other, the Union’s President said in his 2014 New Year message.

Mr Gill Hwan Young, who is also President & CEO of Korean Broadcasting System, said the ABU and its members would continue their commitment to the advancement of a broadcasting culture throughout the Asia-Pacific and the world.

“With the collective efforts of capable and dedicated professionals at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the Korean Broadcasting System and our partners around the world, the future looks bright,” he said.

“Throughout the world we promote Asia-Pacific values of plurality and harmony through diversity. We promote shared prosperity throughout the region and a culture of sharing through our efforts.”

He said that in order to achieve the goals in the Digital Era, members must build stronger alliances with one another.

“This coalition of Asia-Pacific broadcasters can pave the way to the future with more collaborative projects, discovering the industry’s best practices and putting them to use each and every day.

“The ABU will be there to help empower members taking on the digital revolution, through technical and programming support, as we are all facing this turbulent time together.”
