Doordarshan partners with Harris for nationwide digital transition

In a bid to complete the move from analogue to digital television transmission by 2017, India’s national broadcaster Doordarshan has appointed Harris Broadcast for deploying a new DVB-T2 transmission infrastructure across the country.

Doordarshan, the public service TV broadcaster in India, holds the responsibility to cover the whole territory and broadcast content in more than 40 languages across the country. With this tie up, the broadcaster is boosting quality and gearing up for kick starting high definition channels in order to garner high viewer engagement.

Speaking about the latest development, Joe Khodeir, senior vice president Asia at Harris Broadcast said, “This is not only a large-scale project for Doordarshan, but it is also one of the most high profile and important projects the broadcaster has undertaken.”
