Japan’s Nippon TV program heads to Thailand & China

Pharaoh, a hit game show format from Japan’s Nippon TV, has been given local makeovers in Thailand and China.

The show was broadcast in Japan from 2011 to 2013 and is still broadcast as a special programme several times a year.

The Thai adaptation, hosted by popular comedian Hoy Keatisak Udomnark, is set to premiere on Channel 9, where it will air on for 12 months. It is co-produced by Kantalucks, Yoshimoto Entertainment Thailand and Nippon TV. The project was selected and subsidised by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as part of its FY2012 Supplementary Budget for Research and Study on International Joint Production in Asia.

Idea Asia Media’s Chinese version of Pharaoh, the local title of which translates to Crazy Stone, is slated to debut in January across the mainland. It will be broadcast by Hunan Media Group’s Aniworld TV.
