IRIB unveils its latest technological achievements

ABU member Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has unveiled 12 of its latest technological achievements in an exhibition in Tehran this week.

The exhibition displays technologies mastered by Iranian engineers and used to expand media coverage. The fair is a show of the IRIB’s self-sufficiency in producing its broadcasting equipment.

In a visit to the exhibit, IRIB chief Ezzatollah Zarghami said that the national broadcaster owes the recent progress to a call to action by the country’s elite.

Zarghami also said Iranian engineers now master the production of digital transmitters used in upgrading video and audio broadcasting technologies, signal transmission and coverage.

He said Iran is among a few countries around the world that has access to the technology to manufacture such products.

IRIB reports that it is now broadcasting 135 TV and 103 radio channels and that makes it the world’s second largest media organization after China’s national TV and Radio.
