Hong Kong viewers to follow Sochi Olympics via TVB

Hong Kong’s TVB has acquired the exclusive broadcast and exhibition rights to the Sochi 2014 Winter Games in Russia and will cover the medal hopes of 20-year-old Barton Lui Pan-to competing in the 1,500 m speed skating, the first Hong Kong male athlete to qualify for a Winter Olympics.

He will keep the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region flag flying at the opening ceremony on 7 February. China will field a team of 66 athletes in eight sports.

Mr Mark Lee, Group General Manager of TVB, said they were honoured to be Hong Kong’s official broadcaster for the Games.

“Our aim is to ensure that as many people as possible are able to enjoy the Olympic Games on all our platforms,” he said. “It is yet another step in our effort to bring world class sports to Hong Kong viewers.”

The Games will be simulcast live on Jade, HD Jade and Pearl channels from midnight on 7 February (Hong Kong time), with daily live coverage and event highlights including skating, skiing, snowboarding and ice hockey. There will also be live streaming on TVB.com and coverage by TVB Network Vision.
