New Director General for All India Radio

F. Sheheryar has been appointed Director General of India’s national public radio broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) after the retirement of R.Venkateswarlu who has been with the broadcaster for 26 years.

Venkateshwarlu started his career with AIR in 1988 as the youngest station director of his time. During his time at AIR, he earned support for his content initiatives, human resource development and revenue generation. He held the post of Director General for three months before his retirement.

F. Sheheryar, a senior officer of the Indian Broadcasting (Programme) Service will take over as acting AIR DG. Sheheryar , who joined AIR in 1981, has a extensive programming background.

He served as Station Director of Radio Kashmir in a period of extreme unrest and launched a local radio station in Poonchh, on India’s border with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
