Asia-Pacific broadcasters span regional interests

The ABU President and new Vice President have met to discuss issues of mutual interest to their organisations and the Union.

Mr Ibrahim Sahin, President of Turkish Radio and Television, visited Korean Broadcasting System in Seoul and met with Mr Gil Hwan-young, President & CEO of KBS.

TRT is anticipating the launch of its own satellite English channel, and the Turkish delegation was given a presentation on KBS World, the Korean national broadcaster’s satellite channel, which is subscribed to in 88 countries, providing Korean Wave content for a world audience.

Mr Sahin, who was elected a Vice President of the ABU at the General Assembly in Vietnam in November 2014, and Mr Gil, the incumbent President of the ABU, also shared views on the ways in which the ABU can contribute to advancing the broadcasting culture in the Asia-Pacific region.
