NTV-Plus delivers 4K Sochi broadcast
The Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus has delivered a live satellite Ultra HD broadcast of the Sochi Winter Olympics featuring the opening ceremony.
Broadband TV News reports the broadcast followed an intensive period of testing throughout 2013.
Oleg Kolesnikov, CTO of NTV-Plus, said “NTV-Plus creates high quality television content accessible throughout the country, and we are proud to bring the excitement of this January’s events in Sochi.
“Building on our broad sport programming and satellite offerings, broadcasting the Winter Olympics in 4K resolution shows what can be accomplished when operators and silicon vendors work together to deliver Ultra HD content.”
NTV-Plus is the longest-established DTH platform in Russia. It was the first company in the country to offer its viewers both HD and 3D services.
