AIBU, GVF offer satellite solutions at Beirut conference

Expanding satellite options for broadcasters in the Middle East and North Africa has been on the agenda at a meeting held by the Arabic and Islamic Broadcasting Union (AIBU) and the Global VSAT Forum (GVF) in Lebanon.

The two-day conference attracted more than 50 participants from 22 Arab and international media groups, and comprised input from GVF members from the UK, India and the US, Rapid TV News reports.

“This will open doors for logical expansion into the satellite communication business for the broadcasting fraternity, as well as knowledge of best practices to optimise performances,” said Yaser Al-Sayegh, vice president, AIBU.

The validation of assets, benchmarking of process, framework on product quality assurance and capacity building through training were all discussed.

The conference was hosted by the Union Centre for Media Training (UCMT) in Beirut, and chaired by Riaz Lamak, Director, GVF Validation & Benchmarking, and Fehmida Lamak, a GVF-Certified Examiner, in Beirut, Lebanon.
