YouTube to receive Pioneer Prize at International Digital Emmy Awards

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced it will present the 2014 Pioneer Prize to YouTube for its innovative contributions to the field of digital entertainment.

This will be the ninth edition of the International Digital Emmys. The Academy has announced 12 nominees in three categories – from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Portugal, Singapore, the Netherlands and the UK.

“This year’s nominated programs represent every inhabited continent on earth,” said Bruce L. Paisner, the International Academy’s president and CEO. “How fitting that we are presenting our 2014 Pioneer Prize to YouTube, a major agent of growth and distribution of digital content throughout the world since its creation in 2005.”

The nominated programs will be showcased at MIPCube during a special session. The awards will be presented on Monday, April 7, at MIPTV in Cannes.
