Australia’s ABC TV revamps its iview service

Australian public broadcaster ABC TV unveiled a major upgrade of its popular online television viewing service, iview.abc.net.au and app for iPad and iPhone.

The revamp includes a suite of new and improved features to make it easier for viewers to find, plan and watch ABC TV.

ABC Director of Television, Richard Finlayson says the redesign follows the successful launch of the ABC iview Android app in December. “The new iview will also support an even broader catalogue of shows created especially for online audiences.”

The new iview design gives viewers instant access to the most popular programs and latest episodes from the previous night’s broadcast, across all ABC television channels. Program recommendations, additional episodes and related shows are showcased throughout the service.

In a further update to the website coming soon, parents will have the option to set iview to display only programs suitable for children.

Two new programs created especially for online audiences will screen this year: Fresh Blood, an initiative with Screen Australia to find the next generation of comedy performers and producers, and Wastelander Panda, an epic story of loyalty and betrayal in an environment where no-one can survive alone.
