Thai pay-TV network goes with Dolby Digital Plus

Thailand’s largest pay-TV operator, True Visions Public Company Limited, will feature Dolby Digital Plus technology on 50 channels, making it what Dolby says is now the sector operator with the greatest number of HD channels using Dolby Digital Plus in South-East Asia.

The company says Dolby  Digital Plus is quickly becoming one of the leading broadcast audio standards for HDTV services around the globe, including in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, India, and the Middle East.

“To-date, Dolby Digital Plus has been included in more than 1.6 billion products worldwide, including TVs, set-top boxes, Blu-ray Disc players, audio/video receivers, and mobile devices,” says Dolby.

True Visions has increased the number of HD channels from 17 to 50 in a span of one year and the company’s Chief Program and Content Officer, Khun Attaphon Na Bangxang, says they aim to deliver cinema-inspired surround sound and the very best home entertainment experiences for their audience.

“We are excited to combine high-definition video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound for high-definition content to help capture the excitement of the moment, making viewers feel as though they are living the experience,” he says.

Dolby’s Regional Director for South-East Asia, Leong-Yan Yoong, adds: “As high-definition broadcasts become more widely available for viewers in Asia, a market leader such as True Visions is setting the benchmark for a higher standard of home entertainment, complemented with Dolby Digital Plus technology.”
