EBU launches exclusive data portal

The European Broadcasting Union’s special research hub, the Media Intelligence Service (MIS), has launched an exclusive online portal that contains a wide range of data of strategic value to public service media.

The Portal, available to EBU members, holds raw datasets drawn from multiple thematic areas, including audiences, broadcasters’ output and market trends, as well as individual country profiles that give a snapshot of individual nations’ media landscapes.

“This smart new tool gives EBU Members fingertip access to reliable datasets that support both their daily operations and longer-term strategic planning,” said Head of MIS, Dr. Roberto Suárez Candel.

He added: “By sharing our targeted research with Members they can prepare, adapt and present more compelling reasons, at national and EU level, as to why they require robust financial support and legislative protections.”

The portal’s latest offering is the 2013 MIS Survey, a comprehensive collection of raw data contributed by 53 EBU Members. The annual MIS Survey details the most recent figures on overall multiplatform offer, audience figures, programming profiles, funding and personnel data.
