Malaysia & Saudi Arabia agree to TV content exchange

On the sidelines of the AIBD Asia Media Summit in Jeddah, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia have agreed in principle to exchange Islamic television programs.

Visiting the 2014 Asia Media Summit in Jeddah, Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek told Malaysia’s Bernama news agency: “We also produce many good programmes and I believe they will be well accepted if aired in Arabian countries.”

Ahmad Shabery met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture and Information, Dr Abdul Aziz Muhiuddin Khoja, during the event, organised by the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development.

The Asia Media Summit hosted 500 media executives from across Asia, Europe and the Arab world.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek also announced that Malaysia will host the 2015 Asia Media Summit in Kuala Lumpur. The event will return to Malaysia after six years.
