Bangladesh to launch DTH services

Bangladesh’s industrial conglomerate, the Beximco Group, has signed an agreement with Russian STB manufacturer and research company General Satellite, to launch DTH services in the country.

Both companies intend to leverage and develop the pay-TV market in Bangladesh. There are currently no DTH operators in the country.

General Satellite’s first foray into the pay-TV market was in late 2012, when the company launched a digital terrestrial TV services with Cambodia’s Royal Group Company.

According to Next TV Asia, General Satellite is also working to launch DTH services via a joint venture in Pakistan and is working on broadcasting projects in other countries in the region.
