Thailand’s TV Direct launches shopping channel in Malaysia
Thai multi-channel direct marketing company TV Direct has partnered with Telekom Malaysia to launch a home shopping channel which will be aired on the HyppTV IPTV platform in Malaysia.
TV Direct is set to invest more than USD 1.53 million in home shopping in Malaysia and has planned to set up a separate management team for Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
“Malaysia is a very fresh market for TV home shopping, but we are confident it will have the highest growth among its group of Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam,” said Songpol Shanmatkit, chief executive of TVD.
TV Direct is also planning to expand to Myanmar and Indo-China. “We aim for Indo-China to contribute USD 9.23-12.3 million, or 10-12 per cent of total sales revenue, in the next five years. Our goal is to diversify our risk away from Thailand’s uncertainties,” he added.
