Indian court bans unlicensed World Cup video streaming

The Delhi High Court has issued an injunction preventing more than 400 unauthorised websites from broadcasting FIFA World Cup matches, following a complaint from rights holder Multi Screen Media (MSM).

MSM, which operates Sony in India, is broadcasting live football action from Brazil via Sony Six across India. Its digital platform LIVSports.in also has the exclusive local rights provide online video streaming from the World Cup, Rapid TV News reports.

Justice V Kameswar Rao has directed the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunication to ensure the court order is implemented.
