KBS takes out top Banff Rockie prize for Colours: 4 Desires

Korean Broadcasting System’s (KBS) documentary, Colors: 4 Desires, won the 2014 Grand Jury Prize at the 35th annual Banff Rockie Awards.

This marks the first time KBS claimed the top prize at the prestigious TV awards. This year the competition received more than 800 entries and the Grand Jury considered the KBS documentary to be “one of the most beautifully shot programs in all of the Rockies Program Competition.”

Colors: 4 Desires is a four-episode documentary series which examines the cultural history of colors in their varied existence as in pigment, clothing, paintings and religious paraphernalia. Shot in brilliant 4K, Colors: 4 Desires – Blue was an engaging record of blue that crisscrosses from indigo blue producers to Buddhist painters.

Another KBS program, the mini-series drama Good Doctor, was awarded Best Serial Drama. Good Doctor is a coming-of-age story of an autistic doctor who challenges people’s prejudices to become a successful pediatric surgeon.
