Indonesia first in Asia to adapt Hell’s Kitchen

A new format deal has been signed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) for the entertainment show Hell’s Kitchen, which is getting a local treatment in Indonesia.

World Screen reports that Indonesian broadcaster SCTV has commissioned 25 hour-long episodes, marking the first Asian deal for the format. The local version will air this winter, to be hosted by Juna Rorimpandey, better known as Chef Juna.

Hell’s Kitchen has been produced in 17 territories around the world, including Russia and Germany. ITV Studios America’s Hell’s Kitchen USA is in its 12th season on FOX.

Hyeonza Hong, the senior VP of sales for Asia at ITVS GE, said: “Hell’s Kitchen has proven hugely successful with audiences around the world. We are delighted to see the format arrive in Asia and expect it to draw the attention of both local viewers and other broadcasters across the region.”

This agreement follows the commissioning of ITV Studios’ dance competition show Baby Ballroom by HTV7 in Vietnam. A 7×1-hour local version, titled Vu Dieu Tuoi Xanh, will premiere later this month.
