KBS nominates former KBS Media chief as new President
South Korea’s largest public broadcaster KBS has nominated Cho Dae-hyun, the former chief of the company’s contents distributing unit, as its new president.
The decision by the KBS board of directors needs to be approved by President Park Geun-hye. South Korea’s broadcasting law stipulates the president’s right to appoint the chief of KBS.
Cho, if appointed, will lead the broadcaster until November next year, succeeding Gil Hwan-young.
Cho joined KBS in 1978 as a producer and held various positions, including KBS vice president, before becoming president of KBSMedia.
He was recognized for his ability to manage the company in a stable way based on his 30 years of work experience with the broadcaster and recent service as its Vice President.
