Eutelsat adds news, sports channels for SE Asia

Eutelsat is expanding its delivery to Southeast Asia with two new channels of news and sport.

The French-based satellite provider – one of the biggest in Europe – will be offering the feeds to cable and ADSL networks and direct-to-home subscribers in Asia on its 70B satellite.

NexTVAsia reports Nicolas Rotkoff, CEO of MCS TV, as being “delighted to accelerate the reach of MCS International into South-Asian markets”.

“What we appreciate with the Eutelsat 70B proposal is the ability from Europe to enter a new region with a high-power satellite delivering attractive coverage for a wider market penetration of our sports channel,” he said

Frank Melloul, CEO of i24News, said: “In less than a year, i24News is now covering over one billion homes by satellite and is referenced among leading TV operators in more than 75 million homes across the world.”
