IOC considers Olympic TV

The International Olympic Committee is considering the launch of a dedicated Olympic TV channel.

Broadband TV News reports initial proposals were put forward during a meeting of leading representatives if Olympic movement in Lausanne. The organisation said the channel had the potential to increase the presence of sports and the promotion of the Olympic values year round and worldwide.

The IOC will contact all the relevant stakeholders in the coming months to further develop the concept.

The IOC has already taken the production of the Olympic Games in house. Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) was created in 2001 in order to serve as the Host Broadcaster organisation for all Olympic Games.
