MBC Korea signals greater cooperation and partnership with the ABU

Ms Jin-sook Lee, Executive Managing Director of Korea’s Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) said she looked forward to enlarging the partnership between the public broadcaster and the ABU.

During a visit to the ABU Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Ms Lee met with Secretary-General Dr Javad Mottaghi and the ABU Directors of News, Programming and Technology. They explored a range of partnerships and initiatives, which included those that contribute to reducing the digital gap between ABU members in the region as well as co productions and capacity building projects in the areas of news and technology.

Ms Lee said the discussions were very fruitful and that together with the MBC CEO, who has just been appointed as President of Korean Broadcasters Association, “MBC will seriously take into consideration some of the contribution and cooperation offers coming from the ABU, resulting in enlargement of the partnership between the two.”

Both the ABU and MBC are due to further discuss the reciprocal partnerships when the ABU Secretary General visits Seoul in late September.

During her visit to Malaysia, Ms Lee also visited the Kuala Lumpur headquarters of Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), the state-run national broadcaster and the satellite Pay TV and content provider, Astro.
