Places still available for ABU’s technology webinars

ABU Technology still have some places free for broadcasting industry professionals wanting to join their highly-respected annual Webinar Festival this month.

The month-long series of online webinars will include presentations on different aspects and applications of broadcast technology. They are free for all ABU members and those in the industry who are interested in broadcast technologies and its applications.

ABU Technology Director Dr Amal Punchihewa says the content for webinar sessions will be taken from workshops and conference sessions of the Digital Broadcasting Symposium and other events held this year.

Each webinar session will be around 90 minutes, starting with a presentation by an expert on the subject matter followed by Questions & Answers.

“The speaker or one of our colleagues from the ABU Technology department will be available to answer your questions,” says Dr Punchihewa.

The webinar festival will run from 12 August to 5 September, with one session available every day except Saturdays and Sundays.

The webinar sessions will start at 0130 GMT (9:30 am KL/Sin/HK time) each day and will be repeated at 0700 GMT of the same day (3:00 pm KL/Sin/HK time), to facilitate participation of attendees from different time zones.

The webinar sessions for 2014 have been grouped under four main themes: Digital Television; Digital Radio Technologies, Implementations and Updates; New Media, Applications and Implementations; and Effective Workflow and Media Management Systems.

Each topic will include about five to seven webinar sessions, with a total of 18 days webinars in the month-long festival.
