Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set for SuperSport
Sub-Saharan broadcaster SuperSport has acquired, for the first time, the pay-TV rights to all 50 qualifying matches for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2015 football tournament.
A total of 28 teams will participate in the group stages of Afcon 2015, with qualifying matches running from 5 September to 19 November 2014.
SuperSport will broadcast a minimum of seven matches during match weekends, with coverage produced by Sportfive and aired in high definition (HD).
“I’m delighted because this is the first time we have secured a block of Afcon qualifiers,” said Brandon Foot, acting chief executive, SuperSport. “With World Cup fever still in the air, it’s a great time to be a football fan. Games on SuperSport will come thick and fast: just as fans want.”
Games will be available on all of SuperSport’s media platforms: online streaming, DVBH, catch-up and video-on-demand (VOD).
The Africa Cup of Nations 2015 tournament will follow in Morocco from 17 January to 8 February 2015 in four host cities – Tangier, Rabat, Marrakech and Agadir, Rapid TV News Reports.
