Sony to launch Hindi women’s TV channel in September

India’s Multi Screen Media is to launch a new women-centric Hindi entertainment pay-TV channel called Sony Pal on 1 September.

“Today’s women have started realising that they can not only contribute to the society, but also augment family income. Through Pal, we will celebrate these women,” said NP Singh, CEO, Multi Screen Media.

“Our research showed that there was latent demand for a content which was progressive and positive,” he added.

Rapid TV News reports Sony Pal will be available to subscribers of the four major multi-system operators (MSOs), DEN Networks, Hathway Cable & Datacom, Siti Cable, Digicable and Fastway in Punjab, as well as all the direct-to-home (DTH) satellite operators.

At launch the channel will air three hours of original content from Monday to Saturday between 7.30-10.30pm. There will also be two hours of original content on Sunday evenings.
