Russia signals new broadcasting strategy

Russia will have a new strategy for the development of broadcasting to 2025 in place by the end of this year.

Several local media sources  report the strategy will come alongside the development of a national plan for broadband access (also by the end of the year), the promotion of communication and the IT sector in preparation for the World Cup (2018) and Confederations Cup (2017) by March 31, 2015.

Also included will be the development of standards and use of information and communication technology by government and municipalities, along with regional information, both by the end of this year, according to Broadband TV News.

This will effectively amount to a revision of Russia’s ‘Information Society’ plan for the years 2011-2020.

Launched in 2010, it saw its finding cut this May by 10.49%.
