India’s Dish TV launches Telugu service for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana

Indian direct-to-home (DTH) operator Dish TV has launched its regional pay-TV service Zing Digital in the Telugu speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Zing Digital will provide 38 Telugu channels and services and over 100 other channels from INR99 per month. Four packages will be offered to subscribers via satellite or cable, according to Rapid TV News.

The move follows Zing’s launch in West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura and Maharashtra.

“Zing is our unique initiative where a complete new brand is being launched to address this need for regional content. Now not only will packages cater to specific audiences across states, but even communication will be in the customer’s language of choice. Zing will address this need and provide maximum available regional content to viewers through exciting packs as compared to other DTH brands,” said Salil Kapoor, COO, Dish TV.

According to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Andhra Pradesh has the highest number of cable TV homes among the Indian states, accounting for 15% of the country’s total figure.
