Inter BEE expands on turning 50

Japan’s leading broadcasting equipment exhibition, Inter BEE, has expanded to mark its 50th anniversary.

The International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition 2014 in the city of Chiba on 19-21 November 2014 will feature six exhibition halls, one more than last year. Several anniversary events are planned, including a hands-on event for specialised equipment and line array speakers.

Inter BEE has been held annually since 1965, sponsored by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association and the Japan Electronics Show Association, and supported by Japan’s government and broadcasters.

Organisers say the event is the country’s foremost exhibition for professionals in audio, video and communications, bringing together the latest in broadcasting, video, acoustic and lighting equipment, as well as ICT and cross-media solutions.

The first Inter BEE in 1965 featured 12 exhibitors and by 2009 the number exceeded 800.

In recent years, as more broadcasters completed the migration to terrestrial digital broadcasting, Inter BEE has widened its focus to include IPTV, mobile TV, digital signage, digital cinema, 3D and digital content.
