Judging complete for ABU engineering awards

Judging for the 2014 ABU Engineering Awards has finished and entrants will find out next month who has won. 

The winners of the four awards will be announced at the opening session of the Technical Committee meeting in Macau on 24 October 2014, during the week of the ABU General Assembly.

The Broadcast Engineering Excellence Award recognises outstanding contributions to broadcast engineering and the Developing Broadcasters’ Excellence Award, sponsored by SONY, recognises contributions in broadcast engineering made by an individual in a developing organisation, including management of technical resources.

The Engineering Industry Excellence Award is given for the most outstanding engineering contribution made by an individual in the broadcasting industry.

The ABU Green Broadcast Engineering Award, which is sponsored by KOBA, recognises contributions made by an ABU member organisation in developing, implementing and promoting green technology in the broadcasting industry while creating tangible benefits in the process.

“We thank the panels for their good work,” ABU Director of Technology Dr Amal Punchihewa said. “The announcement of the winners is always a highlight of the Technical Committee meeting.”

 The chairmen of the panels are Dato’ Abu Bakar Ab Rahim, Deputy Director-General of Broadcasting (Engineering), RTM-Malaysia, who is also the ABU Technical Committee Chairman and Mr Masakazu Iwaki, Senior Manager, Planning & Coordination Division, Science & Technology Research Laboratories, NHK-Japan, who is also the ABU Technical Committee Vice-Chairman.
