Romania Radio National Orchestra gala concert a highlight of WSMC

Delegates to the 2014 World Summit on Media for Children in Malaysia were treated to special gala concerts by the world-renowned Romanian Radio National Orchestra.

The orchestra performed to a full house audience of WSMC delegates and invited guests in the special venue of Dewan Philharmonik Petronas (Petronas Philharmonic Hall) on 9 and 10 September during the 7^th WSMC, the first ever held in Asia.

The concert program was led by Maestro Tiberiu Soare and included two Malaysian classical works conducted by Maestro Leonard Yeap.

The full program included Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite op. 20a, Yeap’s Contertino Rancak Bertemu for double violin with soloists Yap Yen and Jae Sern, Boyle’s Jauh-Jauh arranged by Luqman Aziz, de Sarasate’s Gypsy Airs op. 20, Dinicu’s Ciocarlia, Strauss’s Burlesk and Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody nr. 1 in A op. 11.

The three days of events and entertainment were organised by the ABU, Radio Televisyen Malaysia and the WSMC Foundation from 8-10 September with the theme Media for 21^st Century Children.
