Sony rebrands in Asia & announces new TV shows

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) Asia is set to become the Sony Channel on 15 October, with female oriented Hollywood programming taking centre stage.

Rapid TV News reports the rebranding will encompass SET in South East Asia and beTV in the Philippines, with new programming including the drama How to Get Away with Murder and the White House-set series Madam Secretary, plus the comedies Manhattan Love Story and Jane the Virgin.

“We believe there is an opportunity in the market for a general entertainment destination that is female focused but also male inclusive. These four new series are smart, edgy and driven by strong women – a perfect fit for the new Sony Channel brand,” said Hui Keng Ang, senior vice president and general manager, networks, Asia, SET.

The new shows join the Sony Pictures Television owned channel’s existing medical drama series The Night Shift, musical drama Nashville, and reality show Cupcake Wars.
