NHK World’s Domo says hello to visitors

Japanese public broadcaster NHK is using its official mascot “Domo” – the brown figure with a big mouth – to help promote NHK World TV to travellers visiting Japan.

An array of flags in different designs featuring “Domo” is welcoming visitors from overseas at the international passenger terminal of Tokyo Haneda International Airport. The flags feature well-known Japanese attractions such as sushi, Mount Fuji and hot springs, as well as NHK World TV and its free apps for smartphones and tablets.

Twenty-eight flags measuring 90 cm by 60 cm have been set up in the arrivals concourse, encouraging visitors to enjoy news and other programs during their stay in Japan and in their own countries.

And a 30-second ad spot of NHK World TV is scheduled to be shown on in-flight video screens on some routes operated by Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines.
