Celestial Tiger extends film deal with Media Asia

Pan-Asian TV channel operator Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) has renewed its exclusive multi-year content deal with Hong Kong film studio Media Asia.

Rapid TV News reports the deal guarantees first and exclusive movie rights for CTE’s pay-TV channels, as well as its pay-per-view, video-on-demand (VOD) and over-the-top (OTT) distribution rights in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

“Media Asia has produced countless hits over the years and we look forward to being the first and exclusive home of their upcoming slate of the biggest blockbusters with the biggest stars,” said Ofanny Choi, executive vice president, TV Networks, Celestial Tiger Entertainment.

“We are more than delighted to continue our fruitful relationship with Celestial Tiger Entertainment. Their unparalleled professionalism and ardent passion for Asian movies have been instrumental in ensuring the continued popularity and success of our films in Southeast Asia,” said Fred Tsui, general manager and head of sales & international co-production, Media Asia.

Upcoming productions from Media Asia include Helios, an action film directed by Longman Leung and Sunny Luk, and starring an international ensemble cast including Jackie Cheung, Nick Cheung from Hong Kong, Ji Jin-Hee from South Korea, and Chang Chen from Taiwan; Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2, the sequel to the hit romantic comedy starring Louis Koo, Gao Yuanyuan and Daniel Wu; and Wine War (working title), a drama starring Leon Lai, Zhang Hanyu and Jennifer Du.
