Doordarshan adds six channels to satellite service

India’s public service television broadcaster Doordarshan has added six channels to its free-to-air (FTA) satellite service DD Freedish.

India TV, ABP News, Focus News, Cinema TV, 9XM and Maha Movies have been added to the DD Freedish direct-to-home satellite line-up in November.

Public broadcasting statutory body Prasar Bharati will be holding its 17th online e-auction to fill more DD Freedish channel slots on 12 November 2014.

The six new slots were filled from a similar e-auction on 28 October, for which the reserve price was US$603,456 per slot.
