Vietnam to launch TV channels for expats

Vietnam is planning to launch more than 20 television channels and four radio channels by 2020 to cater to expats.

The country will introduce ten channels between 2015 and 2017 and ten more channels from 2018 to 2020, as part of a scheme for providing TV and radio services on Internet for overseas Vietnamese around the world.

Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister had approved a budget of USD 19 million for the service. The channels will be transmitted based on Internet TV technology on the web, television and mobile devices, NexTVAsia reports.

The scheme covers providing internet TV and radio services for overseas Vietnamese, producing quality TV and radio programmes and evaluating and examining the services’ provision.
